Short Video Clips

Educational videos are one of the most straightforward and accessible ways to incorporate media technology supporting classroom instruction. We know from surveys1 that the length of such a video should not exceed 5 minutes. The best-working length is between one and two minutes.

The purpose of these videos is to engage and arouse attention. In the frame of another Erasmus+ project, the EBI has developed several short cartoons dealing with project management. Here is an example:

This is a short video with some basic information about meetings. It lasts 34 seconds only, but delivers some essential information.

Since videos are passive media, we recommend making this video active. There are several possibilities:

  • Make it into an interactive video using H5P or similar tools
  • Give the learners an assignment in context with this video, for example, to define the three most important issues for meetings.

Technical information

The video has been created with AniMaker and was exported as an mp4 video. The sound file was created by Talkia (due to the problem that we missed a female speaker). Normally, we use Audacity for sound recording.

The sound file has been imported into AniMaker to create the lip-synchronous animation.
